NVN represented a hospital that was accused of failing to provide a secure and safe environment for an involuntarily admitted patient in its mental health unit. The patient escaped from the hospital, kidnapped an elderly woman and hijacked her car. A settlement favorable to the hospital was reached by pursuing the architect to contribute to the settlement on the grounds that they failed to advise the hospital regarding the appropriate windows to be used for a psychiatric facility.
